JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University Softball defeated Campbell University 11-1 in five innings Friday at the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex. The Dolphins (9-7) exploded for nine runs en route to an eight-run-rule win over the Camels (8-10) in the Jacksonville Invitational opener.

With the game tied 1-1 in the bottom of the third, Heather Roberts reached on an error to open the frame. Madison Ragan followed with a single to put runners on first and second. A sacrifice bunt by Jordan Daniels advanced the runners before Makenzie Buss walked to load the bases. With ducks on the pond, Kristen Griffith ripped a double to score Roberts and Ragan. In the next at-bat, Carolyn O'Neal drove home Griffith and Buss, giving JU a 5-1 lead.

O'Neal advanced to second on a wild pitch, and to third on a single by Allie McCourt. Danielle Baker walked to load the bases, setting up a grand slam by Roberts in her second at-bat of the inning. Ragan followed with another homer in her second appearance of the inning, putting Jacksonville up 10-1.

Alyssa Bilodeau (6-1) earned the win with just one run allowed on three hits in three innings. The Camels' Megan Richards (4-4) took the loss.

Seana Mora relieved Bilodeau in the fourth and pitched two no-hit innings to seal the eight-run-rule win.

O'Neal, Griffith and Ragan each logged multi-hit games. Griffith finished the night with three RBI, second only to Roberts' four.

The Jacksonville Invitational continues Saturday as the Dolphins host Virginia Tech at 2:30 p.m. and Presbyterian at 5 p.m. at the Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex.
