Men's Rowing Hits the Water at SIRA Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's rowing continues spring competition at the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships this Saturday and Sunday.

The men send multiple boats to race at SIRA in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

"I'm looking for us to put together a complete race," said Head Coach Jason Cottingham. "We've been able to execute different parts of the race at different points throughout the season so naturally it is time that we put those pieces together.

"We've made some changes that we think will help us accomplish that"

Jacksonville is coming off its best performance of the spring, winning three races at the FIRA Championships on April 7.

The regatta takes place at Melton Lake, and directions to the venue and more information can be found at the Oak Ridge Rowing Association website. Watch the live stream and view full lineups here.

"This weekend is the perfect opportunity to test ourselves and opportunity to execute what we are looking to execute," said Cottingham. "With a unique format of time trials to get the regatta started then moving into championship style, 6 boats across, racing we will have those opportunities.

"With the times we are looking to be very internal and focus on our fundamental executions then be able to transfer that into the side by side racing we will get the rest of the weekend."
