PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Rowing Championship takes place Sunday, May 19 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey and the Jacksonville University women's rowing team will be in search of a sixth-consecutive crown.
The field consists of four full-time conference members; Canisius College, Fairfield University, Manhattan College, and Marist College, and five associate members; Drake University, Jacksonville, Robert Morris University, Sacred Heart University, and Stetson University.
The Dolphins won the 2nd Varsity 8 and Varsity 8 Grand Finals in last year's championship, finishing in 7:56.05 and 7:16.66, respectively. Jacksonville also took home silver in the Varsity 4 Grand Final.
"We are very excited to get back up to New Jersey to race for a sixth MAAC Championship," head coach
Mike Lane said. "That being said every year that goes by the target on our back grows bigger and bigger. The other teams in our conference our gunning for us which will make for a great day of racing!"
The 2019 MAAC Women's Rowing Championship will be streamed on MAAC.TV for the second straight year. Live coverage of the championship races begins at 9 a.m. on Sunday with the heats, followed by the finals starting at 12:10 p.m.
The awards ceremony will take place following the Varsity 8 Grand Final at approximately 1:45 p.m., during which the All-MAAC First & Second Teams and Coach of the Year will be announced.
"We have had our ups and downs this spring," Lane continued. "However, I have full confidence in our experience on race day that our athletes will show up focused and ready to compete. This is what we have trained so hard for over the last 11 months, race day is here, and it is time to get after it."
