Dolphins Show Stellar All-Around Performances in Last Fall Race

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Jacksonville's women's rowing team had solid performances in each race at the Head of the South Regatta to finish out the fall campaign. Several boats placed in the top ten with four boats finishing first overall.

Ginger Hubbard brought in the first victory of the day, after finishing first in the Women's Championship 1x event. She placed above Stetson, Tampa and Augusta with a time of 20:19.04. Following her lead, the Novice 8+ squad also placed first with a time of 18:07.00. The group placed in front of several power-5 opponents including Clemson, Georgia and LSU.

Next, the Women's Champ 4+ event featured three top 10 finished by JU. The boats finished third, fifth and ninth respectively. Three more boats went to compete in the Women's 8+ event, finishing first, fifth and seventh respectively. To round out the achievements, Gabby Huxtable and Greta Geiser came in first in the Women's 2x race out of eight boats with a time of 18:42.30.

"It was a great day for the program. Really proud of the hard work this team has put in," Head Coach Mike Lane said. "The results speak for themselves. This is a testament for the little things we have done to make each day just a little bit better, but I am really happy for our athletes."

The Dolphins return to the water in the spring of 2022, starting with a contest in Orlando on Friday March 18.
