GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Jacksonville Women's Lacrosse was eliminated from the 2022 NCAA Tournament on Sunday evening following their 15-10 loss to Florida.
The loss marks Jacksonville's third time in program history losing in the Second Round of NCAA Tournament play, and second year in a row losing out to the Gators.
In the match, Jacksonville fell behind by a score of 5-1 following the first quarter and could never claim the lead as Florida would keep the 'Phins high-powered offense to a low roar. The Gator's would even stretch their lead to as much as six at the end of the first half.
In the third quarter the 'Phins would battle back outscoring the Gators four to two, but Florida would prove to be just too much in the fourth as they would tighten up defensively and hold onto the lead that they built in the first half. After 60 minutes the score read 15-10 in favor of Florida.
Florida now advances to the next round of the NCAA Tournament to take on #2 Maryland on Thursday, May 19.
