HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite an early goal by Virginia native Ainsley Scruggs and a pair of third and fourth-quarter goals by Brianna Samuels, the Boston College attack proved their ranking, picking up their third win of the season. A 4-0 run for BC to start the game put JU at an early disadvantage.

The Dolphins continued their success on draw controls, winning 10 in the game, with BC earning 11. Defensively, JU caused four turnovers on their defensive end within the opening six minutes, keeping a strong BC attack at bay early. The Eagles' offense continued to press, finding a gap to score the game's opening goal with 6:57 left in the first quarter. BC added a pair of scores later in the first, scoring their second at the 2:14 mark and again with 1:28 left in the opening 15 minutes.

Boston College added another goal early in the second quarter, before Ainsley Scruggs kicked off the scoring for Jacksonville, ripping a shot past the goalie to make it a 4-1 game. BC answered back, adding another two goals before the halftime whistle, making it a 6-1 game.

Boston midfielder Kayla Martello opened the scoring in the third quarter at 11:41, extending the lead to 7-1 before Samuels helped spark the JU offense, ending a 3-0 run by the Eagles to make it a 7-2 game with 6:49 remaining in the third quarter. The Eagles went on another run, holding the Dolphins' offense to just one more goal in the fourth quarter, with Samuels again providing the boost with 10:42 remaining in the game. Boston College added four more in the closing minutes of the fourth, pulling away and taking the 17-3 victory.
