HOW IT HAPPENED
An intense first quarter ensued after Florida scored two unanswered goals, as Dolphin midfielder Jenna Peed responded, bringing the score to 2-1 with 10:36 remaining in the first quarter. Another 2-0 run followed for the Gators until Mackenzie Boyle found the back of the net, assisted by Brigid Manning, making it a 4-2 lead for Florida. Just before the end of the first quarter, UF managed to regain a four-point lead, 6-2, heading into the second quarter.
Florida took advantage of the middle part of the game, ultimately digging a hole too deep for JU to climb out of. Florida's offense thrived, nearly tripling their score by the end of the third quarter, resulting in a 17-2 lead.
To finish out the fourth, Madison Plitt recorded her first goal of the season, bringing the Dolphin tally to three with 7:21 to play. Herman finished out the night adding a goal to the JU total in the closing minutes of the game.
