Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Scruggs Scores Three in Jacksonville Loss to Towson

The Jacksonville women's lacrosse team fell to the Towson Tigers 15-7 at Rock Stadium in another early season, non-conference clash. The Dolphins (0-4) were led by junior attacker Ainsley Scruggs. Scruggs, who was named to the preseason All-ASUN team, scored her first three goals of the season to lead the team.

The Tigers scored the game's first goal, but sophomore attacker Maddie Herman scored her fourth goal in as many games to tie the game early. Towson ripped off a 5-0 run to close the second quarter to take control of the game. Junior midfielder Maddy Orefice and sophomore midfielder Allyx Berry both scored on free-position shots in the second quarter to spark life for the Dolphins, but the Tigers scored a pair of trio of goals to end the first half with a six-goal lead.

Towson scored two more to open the third quarter, but junior attacker Brigid Manning dodged up field from behind the goal and finished inside to stop the Tigers' run. Towson scored two more goals, before Scruggs scored her first of the game. In the beginning of the fourth quarter, sophomore attacker Maeve Brennan found Scruggs again for another goal. Minutes later, Scruggs dodged downhill and scored her third goal in as many shots.

The Tigers silenced Jacksonville's run with two goals to close out the game and leave with a win.
