Dolphins Release Fall Slate of Races

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville women's rowing program released its fall slate for the 2025 season. The Dolphins will compete in three races, in addition to their Row Across Florida event during Homecoming Weekend.

"Fall is about laying the foundation for the spring season," head coach Mike Lane said. "We're really excited to get back to work to bring back the MAAC [Championship]."

Jacksonville will open the year in Jacksonville with the First Coast Regatta on October 11. The race is a staple of the Jacksonville rowing community, dating back to 1989, and will provide a strong first act for the Dolphins this season.

JU will then head north for the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on October 18.

"This is the greatest festival in rowing, and I am very excited we get to represent JU at this regatta," Lane said.

The Head of the Charles is one of the largest and most prestigious regattas in the world, bringing thousands of athletes from around the world to compete against one another. Jacksonville last competed in 2021.

The final regatta of the fall season is the Florida Fall Invitational. The event, scheduled for November 8, will be hosted by Embry-Riddle. The regatta provides an opportunity to compete against the best of the Sunshine State.

"I'm very excited to work with our fellow coaches on the Florida Fall Invitational," Lane said. "It is a true testament to rowing in our state and a conclusion to what will be a very fun fall season."

In addition to the three regattas, JU will also host its Race Across Florida event on October 24 to highlight Homecoming weekend.

Full details including race times and lineups will be announced in the lead up to each event.
