JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- It's championship season for Jacksonville men's rowing. The Dolphins are off to Fairfax Station, Virginia for the Occoquan Invitational to kick off the closing stretch of the season.
The Dolphins will row three eights in the regatta, doing battle with crews from Marietta, Hobart, St. Joe's, Loyola (Md.), Marist and San Diego.
The racing starts with preliminary heats Sunday morning. Jacksonville's first Varsity Eight starts the racing in the second heat at 10:10 AM. The second Varsity Eight goes out at 10:30 AM. The third Varsity Eight goes out at 10:50 AM in the final qualifying heat of the morning.
After a brief break, the finals will start in the afternoon. The top teams in each event will qualify for the grand final, while everyone else will compete in the petite finals. The finals start at 12:30 PM and go off in 10 minute intervals.Â
The first Varsity Eight goes out first, ending with the third Varsity Eight grand final at 1:20 PM.

"I am excited for the opportunity to race at the Occoquan this year. This will be our first test against our out-of-state competition that we all race at Dad Vail in a few weeks. The team is ready for fast racing, good competition, and a great trip to Virginia."
