JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville Dolphins hosted the #15 Colorado Buffaloes, with the game going down the wire. The Dolphins ultimately fell in overtime, 10-9, the first loss of the season at home.
Jacksonville (8-4, 4-1 ASUN) was led by junior
Maeve Brennan's five points (3G, 2A). Brennan also tied for the team-high in ground balls with three. The Dolphins had five players on the score sheet for the day.
The Buffaloes struck the first blow early in the first quarter, but the opening period would belong to the Dolphins. Jacksonville cashed in on a pair of player-up opportunities, with freshman
Shae Hagans and junior
Jessica Giller finding the back of the net.
JU completed the 3-0 run with a Brennan bucket to put Jacksonville in front early. Colorado scored another goal late in the quarter, but the Dolphins took a one-goal lead into the second period.
The Buffaloes took that momentum into halftime. Colorado scored all three goals in the second quarter to take a 5-3 halftime lead.
Jacksonville started in the second half, tying the game early. Brennan got one back, then junior
Allyx Berry tied the game at five with a free-position opportunity. The Buffaloes retook the lead with two quick goals, but the Dolphins ended the quarter with a strong run of their own.
Brennan got one back, then Giller raced in and pocketed a free-position opportunity. Senior
Ainsley Scruggs capped off the run with a tally, giving JU an 8-7 lead heading into the final quarter.
Colorado tied the game with a free-position shot, but Giller answered back with a go-ahead free-position goal. The Buffaloes tied the game again, this time the deadlock would last the rest of the quarter and send the game into overtime.
In the extra period, Colorado would score the decisive goal midway through to secure the win.

- This was Brennan's fifth game this season with at least five points.
- Hagans scored her 30th goal of the season, giving her back-to-back 30-goal campaigns to start her college career.
- Giller finished with four points, her fifth game in a row with four or more points.
