Cappello Hat Trick Leads Jacksonville Past Trinity Baptist, 5-0

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.Emanuel Cappello recorded a hat trick as Jacksonville University men's soccer rolled to a 5-0 victory over Trinity Baptist on Tuesday night at Southern Oak Stadium.

The Dolphins improved to 3-1 on the season with the victory, scoring three times in the opening half before adding two more after the break.

Jacksonville wasted little time getting on the board. Cappello opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing off an assist from Kailas Cooper to give the Dolphins an early 1-0 advantage.

Cappello struck again less than 10 minutes later, finding the back of the net in the 19th minute to double the Jacksonville lead.

The Dolphins added one more before the break. In the 44th minute, Kai Tamashiro scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Quinten Koster, sending Jacksonville into halftime with a 3-0 advantage.

Jacksonville continued to control the match after the break. Matias Tobon pushed the lead to four in the 74th minute, scoring off Cooper's second assist of the night.

Cappello completed the hat trick in the 88th minute, converting a feed from Leonardo Davi C Santos to put the finishing touches on the 5-0 victory.

Cappello finished the night with three goals on seven shots, putting five on frame. Cooper recorded two assists, while Tobon finished with a goal on three shots.

Jacksonville controlled the attacking numbers throughout the match, outshooting Trinity Baptist 19-1 and holding a 12-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Dolphins also generated 13 corner kicks while allowing none.

Andrew Sobieski made his first start in goal for Jacksonville and earned the clean sheet, playing all 90 minutes as the Dolphins' defense held Trinity Baptist without a shot on goal.

Jacksonville returns to action Saturday, Sept. 5, when the Dolphins host North Florida in the River City Rumble at Southern Oak Stadium.
