CONWAY, Ark. – The Jacksonville University men's soccer team earned a point on the road Saturday, playing Central Arkansas to a 1–1 draw at the Bill Stephens Complex.
Quinten Koster scored his second goal of the season as the Dolphins (3–3–2, 0–2–2 ASUN) finished with a 13–2 advantage in shots, including a 9–2 edge in shots on goal.
Jacksonville struck first in the 15th minute when Koster found the back of the net off assists from
Dante Wright and
Matias Tobon. The Bears answered in the 21st minute through Maxim Sheenkov to bring the match level.
The Dolphins continued to create chances before the break.
Diego Valles and Koster each forced saves midway through the half, while
Landon Dennis put an effort on frame in the final seconds. Jacksonville entered halftime tied despite outshooting Central Arkansas 7–1.
JU kept the pressure on after the restart, with Leo Santos and Dennis testing Bears goalkeeper Merrick Cook in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.
Romain Spailier and
Mathias Mjaavatn also registered shots on goal, but Cook kept the Dolphins from reclaiming the lead.
Simen Havig made his lone save in the 73rd minute, stopping Vaclav Kozeny on Central Arkansas' only shot of the second half. Jacksonville held the Bears without another attempt over the final 17 minutes.
Santos led the Dolphins with three shots, while Koster and Dennis each placed both of their attempts on target.
Nassim Akki, Mjaavatn and
Alejandro Carrillo played all 90 minutes in front of Havig, helping limit Central Arkansas to one shot in each half.
