Kayla Dumon was hired as a new Student-Athlete Services Graduate Assistant in July 2021.
Prior to her arrival at JU, Dumon served as an assistant indoor and beach volleyball coach at State College of Florida in spring of 2021. During her tenure, she helped produce two FCSAA Second Team All-Conference selections, four FCSAA Player of the Week selections, and one Elite 25 Dig Club distinction for SCF’s indoor program. In addition, she contributed her efforts in leading State College of Florida to an undefeated record within the FCSAA Beach Volleyball Conference. While at SCF, Dumon also assisted with academic enhancement initiatives within the program.
Dumon briefly held a summer position at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where she served as a camp counselor, assisting with baseball camp operations and student life.
A graduate of Florida Southern College, Dumon holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. A former student-athlete for the Moccasins, Dumon competed on the beach volleyball team, making appearances on court No. 4 and 5. She helped her team clench a sixth-ranked finish at the AVCA Championships in 2019, along with earning an AVCA Top-15 Academic Program ranking, and the 2020 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.
During her time at Florida Southern, Dumon was elected as the Intercollegiate Athletic Senator for the Student Government Association. She also served as a student-athlete mentor, student-worker for Athletic Communications, and beach volleyball representative for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. In May of 2020, Dumon was selected to represent FSC Athletics as an Accountability Leader at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum.
Her other involvements at Florida Southern included founding her institution’s Asian & Pacific Islander Student Association while serving as President, working alongside the Multicultural Student Council, Simmons Center, Allies, and Black Student Union. Furthermore, Dumon served as a third year senator, orientation leader, Brain Fitness Club student instructor, strength & conditioning intern, and Hometown Rehab intern. In 2020, she was inducted into the exercise science professional fraternity, Phi Epsilon Kappa.
A native of Citrus Springs, Fla., Dumon is pursuing her Master of Business Administration at JU.
