Former defensive standout Emon Smith returns to the Jacksonville football sidelines for the 2018 season, serving as a student assistant. 

A native of Pensacola, Fla., Smith was a four-year letter-winner for the Dolphins from 2014-17, playing in 41 games as a defensive back. 

He finished his career with 109 total tackles, including five for a loss, 12 pass breakups, a fumble recovery, a blocked kick and four interceptions. Beginning the 2017 season with an interception in three straight contests, he was one of thirteen JU players that earned All-PFL honors, recieving a PFL Honorable Mention nod. 

Smith is currently finishing his bachelor's degree in aviation.
