Maria Bellinger was hired as an Athletic Academic Advisor for Student-Athlete Services in June of 2022.

Before coming to JU, Bellinger worked at Farleigh Dickinson University as an Assistant Athletic Academic Advisor. She was responsible for a caseload of students from FDU’s Men’s and Women’s Volleyball teams, Softball team and Bowling team. Bellinger helped mentor at-risk and probationary student-athletes while advising class selection in accordance with NCAA bylaws. In addition to her duties with FDU in the past year, Bellinger taught an 8th grade Sport Psychology & Leadership class and took a special Executive Internship opportunity with Student-Athlete NIL to produce the Inaugural NIL Summit in Atlanta, Georgia.

During graduate school, Bellinger served as a Graduate Assistant with the Rutgers Women’s Volleyball program for a semester, during the COVID altered season. Outside of the team structure, Bellinger also gave private instruction at various training facilities and clinics.

While working briefly for her alma mater at the University of Delaware, Bellinger served in a variety of roles to gain work experience in NCAA Division I Athletics. She interned in the Football Operations department and carried out various logistics and planning measures. Bellinger also worked for the Student Services for Athletes unit to help proctor study halls, execute data projects, and peer mentor.

Bellinger was a four-year starter for the University of Delaware Volleyball program. She finished her highly decorated career with a plethora or awards and honors. On the court, Bellinger was touted as an All-American Honorable Mention, two-time First Team All-CAA, AVCA East All-Region Team, among others. Off the court, Bellinger garnered CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll each year and earned Dean’s List Honors in six semesters at UD. As a prep athlete, Bellinger was once a US All-American Honorable Mention and a Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey.

A native of Paramus, New Jersey, Bellinger earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware and Master of Science in Global Sports Business from Rutgers University.
