Coach Kayla Thieken joined the Dolphins on the waterfront in the summer of 2020.
Head Coach
Mike Lane brings in Thieken to serve as his top assistant from West Virginia, where she was an assistant coach for the last two years.
Previously, Thieken served with West Virginia for two seasons as an assistant. For the Mountaineers, she served as the Varsity coach and primarily worked with the 2V. Before that, she earned her Masters of Physical Education in Coaching while also working as a graduate assistant for WVU, coaching the novices. She was heavily involved in the various recruiting efforts all four years there.
Prior to her time at WVU, she was a four-year member of the rowing team at UCF, serving as a team captain for the 2014 and 2015 seasons. She established her track record of hard work early on, earning the coaches award as a freshman.
While rowing for UCF, she also worked at local rowing camps and with the Orlando Area Rowing Society. After graduation, she volunteered with Knights Without Borders, partnering with the Peace Corps to work in Costa Rica and spent the following year as a volunteer coach at UCF.
