Chelsea Roemer joined the Jacksonville University Athletic Department in April of 2021.
The Dallas, Texas native joins the staff after completing her bachelors degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. During her time in Missouri, she served as an strategic communications intern for the athletic department. As the student lead for the volleyball and gymnastics programs, she helped run the team’s social media platforms, constructed game notes, composed press releases and wrote feature stories for MUTigers.com
Outside of athletic communications she was part of the Missouri student chapter of the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM). She was a member all four years of college and served on executive board for her sophomore through senior year. Additionally, she was one of eight women named to the 2020 AWSM Scholar class.
During the summer of 2018, Roemer moved to Holyoke, Massachusetts to serve as a media relations intern for the New England Collegiate League team, the Valley Blue Sox. Her main duties consisted of; traveling with the team, writing all press releases, creating graphics and running all social media platforms. She also took charge in the marketing campaign, Pawscation, traveling across Western Massachusetts to promote the team. Her marketing efforts increased social media interaction by 68 percent and ticket sales by 47 percent.
The summer of 2019, Roemer made her way to Madison, Wisconsin to serve as the public relations intern for the Northwoods League team, the Madison Mallards. Her main responsibilities were; writing all press releases and feature stories, designing the game-day program, keeping track of player information and statistics, helping with the visiting media and serving as the official scorekeeper.
