Dee Brown was hired as Executive Director of University and Athletics Relations on July 1, 2021. Promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director - University and Athletics Relations on July 1, 2022.
 As a senior level athletics staff member reporting directly to the Athletics Director, he will act as a coach’s liaison to the Athletics Director and sport administrators and assist sport administrators in the evaluation and development of coaches. In addition, he will serve as the primary sports administrator for Women’s Basketball, Indoor Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Women's Track and Field and will assist all coaches in the evaluation and development of student-athletes. He will act as the Chief Culture Officer within the athletics department and in doing so monitor, track, and help solve the concerns of student-athletes, coaches, and staff. As part of the role, he will create and have oversight of all coach and player development programming for all sports that enhances the coach and student-athlete experience.
Brown is on several advisory boards at Jacksonville University including the Cost Honors College, Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare, the Stein College of Fine Arts, Davis School of Business & Technology, the Brooks College, JAX Backers, and a Tri-Chair for Jacksonville University FUTURE.MADE Campaign. Brown also serves on the Board of Trustees at his alma mater, The Bolles School and is a Senior Advisor for POWERHANDZ, a sports and fitness product tech platform transforming the way athletes and the overall fitness community improve skill development and human performance through innovative products, technology and experiences.
Brown previously served as Vice President of Integrated Development & G League Operations for the LA Clippers and the General Manager of the Clippers G League affiliate, the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (2017-2021). Brown joined the Clippers after spending a season with the Denver Nuggets as an Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development. Prior to his time with the Nuggets, Brown served two seasons with the Sacramento Kings where he held the title of Director of Player Development and Assistant Coach under Michael Malone. Previously, Brown spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons after serving as Head Coach and Director of Basketball Operations for the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League (2009-2011).
Following a stellar high school career at The Bolles School ('86) and collegiate career at Jacksonville University ('90, '24) – Mathematics and Computing Science), Brown was selected by Boston with the 19th overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft, earning All-Rookie First Team honors after averaging 8.7 points and 4.2 assists per game to help the Celtics win the Atlantic Division. He also won the 1991 NBA Slam Dunk contest and went on to average 12.2 points per contest during the postseason. In his 12-year NBA career, Brown played for three teams – Boston, Toronto and Orlando – and averaged 11.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per contest in 609 games. As a member of the Raptors, he led the NBA with 135 three-pointers made in 1998-99.
Brown turned his attention to the sidelines after retiring as a player, coaching the WNBA’s Orlando Miracle in 2002 and the San Antonio Silver Stars in 2004. Between head coaching stops, Brown served as Director of Player Development for the Magic in 2005. He and his wife of 30 years, Tammy, have a son, Anakin (18), and three daughters, Alexis (29), Alyssa (27) and Alanni (21). Alexis was the 9th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft and won the 2022 WNBA World Championship with the Chicago Sky and currently plays for the L.A. Sparks.
