Box Score TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Jacksonville was bit in a tight 6-5 loss at Florida A&M on Tuesday as the Rattlers beat the Dolphins 6-5 at Moore-Kittles Field.
The loss ends a 20-game winning streak for Jacksonville over Florida A&M.
For the second straight game the Dolphins (10-21) got things started early scoring two in the top of the first. Senior Scott Schaub(Ocala, Fla.) led the charge with a 2-run RBI single up the middle.
After the Rattlers (12-19) added a run in the bottom of the first, Jacksonville took a two-run lead once again in the second on a RBI groundout by Angelo Amendolare(Edgewater, Fla.) that scored Dylan Dillard(Kissimmee, Fla.) who led off the inning with a single.
Schaub continued to swing well in the third. He extended the lead to 4-1 after hitting a triple to center and scoring on an error.
The Rattlers came back in the fourth however scoring four runs on five hits to take the lead at 5-4. The would make it 6-4 in the sixth on a sacrifice fly.
The Dolphins had a two-out rally going in the seventh. A walk and back-to-back singles resulted in a RBI hit to center byConnor Marabell (Jacksonville, Fla.) that pulled Jacksonville within a run and left runners on the corners. That would be all the Dolphins would get in the innings however as a questionable called third strike on an outside pitch closed out the inning.
Jacksonville is now home for three straight starting with Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday at 6:00 pm. A-Sun play returns again this weekend with the Dolphins hosting Florida Gulf Coast starting on Friday at 6:30 pm. All three games vs Florida Gulf Coast can be heard on 92.5 FM.
