ORLANDO, Fla. – Sam Armstrong's third homer of the year wasn't enough for Jacksonville University (12-15) on Tuesday at UCF (20-6). The Dolphins lost 10-1 to the Knights in Jay Bergman Field.

The game, scoreless through two, started to go UCF's way in the third inning. With one out and runners on second and third, a passed ball allowed the Knight on third to score. On the next at-bat the Knight at the plate grounded out to short, but gave the runner just enough time to score. After three UCF led 2-0.

Armstrong pulled JU back within one on a 2-0 pitch with two outs, homering well over the right field fence. The Knights responded though, plating two runs on two hits and an error. After four UCF led 4-1.

Nathan Disch held the Knights hitless in the fifth, his final inning of work, but with two outs in the sixth the Knights got a three-run homer to increase their lead to six, 7-1, after six innings.

Two hits and an error in the seventh allowed one more run to score, and the final two runs of the game came in the eighth on three hits and an error. After eight innings UCF led 10-1 and kept that total through the rest of the game.

The Dolphins begin ASUN Conference play on Friday at Florida Gulf Coast (22-3, 0-0 ASUN). A brief return home for Bethune-Cookman (17-9) on April 5 will end the eight-game road trip, but JU will hit the road again just two days later to play at NJIT (3-18, 0-0 ASUN). The next extended home stand comes April 11-19, when the Dolphins play five games at home in nine days.
