Dolphins Falter at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Jacksonville University (27-21, 11-4 ASUN) stepped out to Tallahassee Tuesday for a mid-week game at Florida State (32-18, 11-12 ACC). The Dolphins fell to the Noles 21-2 in the final non-conference road game of the season.

Florida State scored first in the bottom of the first, plating two on three hits. Starter Mike Cassala held the Seminoles scoreless in the second, but FSU scored at least one in every other inning.

JU got its first run of the game in the top of the fifth. Chris Lehane led off with a single, and was joined on base by Ruben Someillan (single) and Dakota Julylia (walk) with no outs. The Seminoles got two outs on a flyout from Nathan Koslowski, but JU reloaded the bases and put one across on an RBI walk by Evan Fernandez.

The Dolphins led off the sixth with a walk by John Cassala, and Jacob Southern put Cassala on third with a double. A sac fly by Lehane scored JU's second run of the game.

Jacksonville returns to action May 12-14 at home against USC Upstate.
