Turnock, Nackashi Race To Personal Bests at ASUN Championships

BRONX, N.Y. – The Jacksonville University men's cross country team placed ninth overall as a pair of Dolphins raced to new career-best times at the 2018 ASUN Conference Championships, Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park.

In similar fashion, junior Alex Turnock and freshman Gabriel Nackashi set career-best times in the 8,000-meter race as the duo shaved nearly 20 seconds apiece off their previous personal records – which they both set at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational earlier this season.

Turnock paced the Dolphins with a time of 27:17.4 to placed 40th overall for an improvement of 19.5 seconds, while Nackashi rounded out the Dolphin contingent and shaved off a total of 19.8 seconds from his previous PR.

Sophomore Peter Dugan, senior Brett Gerhardt, and junior Nick Ohlwein added depth, and finished 64th, 69th, and 70th, respectively.

Qualifying Dolphins will race at the NCAA South Region Championship at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. on Nov. 9.
