GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Following its second series sweep of the season, the Jacksonville University baseball team takes to the road to battle its third ranked foe of the year. The Dolphins (13-8) head to Gainesville Wednesday to face #2/1 Florida (18-4, 2-1 SEC) at 6:00 p.m. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 20, play was pushed back one day due to inclement weather in the North Florida area.

Weekend Wrap-Up
After a rough battle through the middle of last week, the Dolphins found their mojo over the weekend, sweeping MAAC foe Fairfield at John Sessions Stadium. Seven different players recorded multi-hit games, as JU outscored the Stags 23-8 in three contests, never conceding the lead. Jacksonville has now won each of its first four home series', and is 6-0 against teams hailing from New England in 2018.
On-Deck Circle
- Taking advantage of chances to thrive in the lineup last weekend, OF Cory Garrastazu introduced himself to the Jacksonville faithful. The Marshall transfer went .556 in nine at-bats while starting the latter two contests, registering his first three-hit game as a Dolphin in Sunday's win.
- Sophomore Ruben Someillan continues to produce at the top of the lineup for JU, where he has hit in all but one game this season. The centerfielder owns a team-high 14 game on-base streak, and batted .400 over the last 10 contests.
- Junior Angel Camacho was an RBI machine this weekend, sending six runners home on seven hits. The first-basement cranked out four extra-base knocks, including his first career triple in Friday's contest.
- Rookie reliever Chris Mauloni has emerged as the number to call out of the pen in save situations this season. The River City product now has eight on the year, adding another to solidify a Dolphin win last Friday. Mauloni sits tied for second in the country in the mark, leading all freshmen.
- Jacksonville has dominated the fifth inning this season, outscoring opponents 13-4 in the frame thus far.
- JU had great success with the double play ball over the weekend, turning six against Fairfield. The team's defensive diligence propelled them from 192 to 102 in the country in the statistic.
- Following the weekend sweep over the Stags, JU has taken four of the first five series' for the first time since 2011. The team has emerged victorious in its first four home series' for the first time since 1989, when they finished 42-22 overall, advancing to an NCAA Regional.
Scouting The Gators
- Transitioning into conference play for the 2018 season, Florida won two of three games on the road against South Carolina last weekend. The team rode solid pitching and run support to victory in the first and third contests, but fell in a slugfest on Saturday. Last week began with a decisive 12-6 home win over #7/3 Florida State.
- The defending NCAA National Champions, UF has picked up where they left off in 2017, emerging as one of the top squads in the nation. Ranked in the top spot in the Baseball America poll, the Gators sit just behind Oregon State in the D1baseball.com Top 25 rankings.
- Florida has been on the mark in its hitting efforts this season, betting .289 overall. With 33 home runs this far, the team ranks fifth in the country in the mark, and seventh in big-flies per-game. They rank seventh in on-base percentage, 11th in slugging percentage, and 39th in overall scoring.
- The team is led offensively by junior Jonathan India and sophomore Wil Dalton, who steady UF in batting average, hitting .400 and .329 respectively. A Preseason All-SEC Team member, India batted .571 last week, sending a pair of balls out of the park against the 'Noles. Dalton leads the team in hits, runs, and RBI, while the two are tied for the top spot in home runs.
