TAMPA, FLA. – The Jacksonville University men's soccer team played their second in a three-match road trip on Tuesday night as they traveled to Tampa to go up against the University of South Florida. The Dolphins (4-5-2) fell to the Bulls by a final score of 4-1.
Junior
Eli Lasley started in goal for the Dolphins to make his first appearance of the season. Jacksonville recorded two shots in the first half, both credited to freshman midfielder Jake Duncan Smith.
At 12:14 USF got on the board first with a goal scored by Victor Claudel and was able to maintain the lead for the remainder of the. After the first 45 minutes of play USF held a 1-0 lead over Jacksonville.
Early into the second half USF recorded two more goals from Avionne Flanagan and Henrique Gallina to take a 3-0 lead over JU.
Jacksonville recorded three more shots in the second half. In the 68

Mason Tunbridge shot a ball that went out wide on the right side of the net. JU was able to maintain possession for the final 17 minutes of the match. The capitalizing moment came after four consecutive corner kicks. Sophomore midfielder
Jake Johnson took an impressive shot on goal but the ball was then deflected off the knee of a USF defender. As momentum continued to build in the 80
th minute Jacksonville got on the board with a singlehanded goal from sophomore forward
Reggie Nicolas. Nicolas, who registered his first career goal was named the
Hodges Mazda Player Of The Game following the match.
Ignasi Fores tallied the final goal for the Bulls in the 82
nd minute.
Despite a hard-fought effort USF was able to maintain the lead for a 4-2 final.
Jacksonville will cap off their road trip next Wednesday at USC before returning home to Southern Oak Stadium for their final home game of the season against Liberty. The Dolphins will hold their senior night prior to the start of the Liberty match.
