PRINCETON, N.J. – The Jacksonville University men's rowing team competed over the weekend in the Princeton 3-mile chase where it showed promise but ultimately came up short.
"I was disappointed in our execution for the first race. The guys looked to be overwhelmed and let the situation get to them" said head coach
Jason Cottingham. "We made some adjustments for the second race that helped but we still didn't execute to the capacity that we have in practice. We will continue to work on our execution under duress to learn the finer points of racing."
The Dolphins battled through rainy conditions on Saturday morning that in the end caused them to finish outside of the top 30 in the first round and inside the top 15 for the second round (36
th and 14
th respectively). Cottingham talked about the conditions after the race and how they didn't handle the weather as well as they wanted to, "we are spoiled here in Florida as we have so much warm and nice weather. We need to be able to not let things that are out of our control affect us so much."
Up next for JU is the Head of the South on November 9.
