Game One
Senior pitcher
Alyssa Bilodeau recorded her third win of the season pitching a complete game this afternoon. She faced 27 batters only allowed 6 hits. After the first Cardinal run in the top of the first, she held back the visiting team for the remainder of the game. Jacksonville opened scoring in the bottom of the third when senior
Makenzie Buss hit a homerun to left field on the first pitch. The Dolphins secured the game winning run in the bottom of the fifth when freshman
Ashley Darakjian scored on a sac fly from Buss.
Buss and Darakjian both went 2 for 1 at the plate in game one.
Game Two
Jacksonville was unable to top the Cardinals in game two of the evening. Senior
Kassidy Cross scored the lone Dolphin run after she tripled in the top of the fourth. Freshman
Skylar Whitty and senior
Seana Mora both saw action in the circle but were unable to fight back against the unrelenting Ball State offense.
"When we play clean softball we are tough to beat. Game one was a great example, Unfortunately we weren't able to do that in game two. A lot defensive miscues allowed that game to get too far away from us to make any kind of noise offensively," commented Head Coach
Erica Ayers.
Jacksonville returns tomorrow for a double header against Eastern Tennessee State University (2:30PM) and Alabama A&M (5PM).
