Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville University volleyball program fell Saturday evening to Kennesaw State in straight-sets, to conclude the 2021 season.
Prior to the regular-season finale, the Jacksonville volleyball program honored seniors
Isa Dostal,
Barbora Romancova, and
Autumn DeSantis for their final contest in a JU uniform.
Set One
Jacksonville opened the contest holding a two-point margin over the visiting Owls, 11-9. Kennesaw State swung the momentum in their favor with a 9-3 run, to take the lead over the Dolphins, 18-14. Following two Dolphin scores late in the frame, the Owls claimed two-straight points to clinch the contest's opening set, 25-20.
Set Two
In the second set, JU was unable to gain their traction against the Owls, as Kennesaw State stormed out to a 24-9 advantage. Facing set-point, the Dolphins rattled off five-straight points. However, the Owls were able to seal the second frame, 25-14.
Set Three
Back-and-forth play was the theme to begin the third set, however Kennesaw State held a two-point edge over JU, 14-12. The Owls followed scoring five of the next six points to expand their existing lead to six, 19-13. Late in the contest, the Dolphins attempted to spark a comeback courtesy of a 5-1 burst. However, Kennesaw State was able to clinch the straight-set victory, winning the third set 25-22.
Jacksonville was led on the attack by
Jenna McNamara and
Barbora Romancova's matching five kill performances.
Camryn Honn led the Dolphins with 12 assists and
Kariana Ayala registered 12 digs in the effort.
