MIAMI, Fla. – The Dolphins (3-2) traveled to FIU (4-3) to take on the Panthers on their home court. After two straight losses, the Dolphins are back in the win column with a 35-33 victory that came down to the final seconds.
The first half was all Panthers as the Dolphins only held a lead for less than one minute, their first bucket. FIU did not score much, however they were able to hold JU to just six points in the first quarter and seven in the second quarter.
JU came out with more fire in the second half, bringing the game within two points due to the defensive efforts of Asiah Jones and KayKay Hayes, two players that have shined at that end of the court this season. Ending the third quarter down 28-30, JU would eventually tie the game late in the fourth at 33 apiece. Neither team would score again until 4.0 seconds left in the game, where Jalisa Dunlap would draw a foul and sink both free throws to cap off the Dolphins' comeback.
JU comes back home to Swisher Gymnasium on Thursday, December 2nd for a matchup against Ave Maria at 7PM.
