JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's basketball jumped out to a big early lead and cruised to an 87-48 win over Webber International at Swisher Gymnasium on Saturday evening.
All 13 players who appeared for the Dolphins (7-3) scored and the team is now on a season-high three-game win streak.
JU got a free throw from
Osayi Osifo, a three-pointer by
Kevion Nolan and a
Jordan Davis assisted
Mike Marsh hook shot before Davis himself converted a layup to put the Dolphins up 8-0 ad force a Webber timeout 2:41 into the game. It was 10-0 before the Warriors scored and JU's pressure half-court defense forced ample turnovers in the first half.
The lead hit 20 when
Tommy Bruner buried a three to make it 24-4 with 11:29 to play in the opening period, and Webber did not hit double-figures until hitting a layup with 4:59 to play in the first to cut it to 31-11.
The Dolphins led 45-17 at the break, and got off to a hot start again in the second half, running a set play for an Osifo layup and
Rod Brown scoring four-straight to start the half.
The lead grew to as many as 42 when
George Pridgett converted a four-point play with 11:51 remaining, and the Dolphins were able to get a lot of players significant playing time in the second half, highlighted by
Thomas Owen and
Carson Brown scoring in the closing minutes, the latter recording his first career college points.

Jacksonville heads back out on the road one more time before the Christmas break, traveling to the Steel City to face Pitt at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

- Jordan Davis scored 10 for his 53rd career double-figure scoring night, and had a season-best six assists

- The 87 points is a season-high for JU
- The Dolphins held an opponent under 50 points for the third time this season
- Jacksonville forced 20 turnovers, the second-most in a game this season, and have now forced at least 19 turnovers in three consecutive games, all wins
