New Faces Continue to Win for Dolphins

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Dolphins (5-2) took care of business this week, capturing three wins, finalizing the week with one against Florida A&M (0-6), 57-36.

The Dolphins have started off strong this season, their five wins mark a higher total than the entirety of last season (4), accomplishing this feat in just seven games this time around. This afternoon game was no different from the rest thus far for JU, the all-around efforts of Asiah Jones and Taylor Hawks continue to play a key part in the early success of this team. The duo has changed the game for the Dolphins on both ends of the court after transferring this past off-season. Jones and Hawks combined for 25 points and 8 rebounds. However, their impact goes beyond the court according to Coach Darnell Haney, "Their impact has been tremendous as far as maturity is concerned...older kids know how to approach a basketball game, a class, etc." It's an exciting time to see this team continue to build their chemistry with their new faces.

Another key player for the Dolphins is the reliable, Carmella Walker. Once again playing over thirty minutes, Walker has been "Steady Eddie" for Coach Haney and JU. She is averaging 32.5 minutes per game which stands for over 81% of each game. "We know we can count on her to defend the other team's best player and get tough buckets for us."

The Dolphins stay home for their next game on Wednesday, December 8th against Warner (2-4) at 11 AM.
