TROY, Ala. – Jacksonville University baseball dropped the final game of the series at Troy on Sunday, 9-0.
The Dolphins (0-7) suffered some tough luck early and the Trojans took advantage to sweep the weekend.
JU used a two-out walk and single in the top of the third to set themselves up to take an early lead.
Stephen Moffatt fisted a single through the hole at second base, but the Trojans rightfielder came up throwing and delivered a perfect strike to nab
Elias Flowers at the plate and end the inning and the threat.
In the bottom half, Troy used a leadoff walk, error and two hit batsman to talk the lead.
Austin Temple (0-2) was forced to exit the game after that, and a pair of sacrifice flies and a wild pitch made it 4-0 Troy after three.
A solo homerun in the fifth allowed Troy to make it 5-0, before they separated with a four-spot in the seventh. A two-out walk and RBI single to center ended
Mason Adams day, after 4.2 innings of relief work. Two more walks and two more RBI base hits, the second of them scoring two made it 9-0.
Jacksonville returns home to host College of Charleston on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
