Baseball Bested in Sunday Finale at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – Jacksonville University baseball dropped the series finale 10-0 at UCF on Sunday.

The Dolphins (5-12) were unable to capitalize on early run scoring opportunities at John Euliano Park, leaving 11 men on base throughout the afternoon.

Jacksonville got off to a good start, with Blake Delamiellure knocking a single to right and advancing to third on Dakota Julylia's double to the gap in left. Julylia was picked off for the second out and after Christian Coipel drew a walk, a groundout ended the threat.

In the second, Trace Burchard drew a leadoff walk, but was erased as part of a double play, and UCF took advantage of a leadoff double, followed by an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Ruben Someillan hit a leadoff single to right and Delamielleure followed him with a base hit to the opposite field as well. Julylia's flyout advanced both runners and Coipel was intentionally walked to load the bases. The Knights managed to escape the inning without allowing a run to cross.

UCF separated with a five-run third. Ten men came to the plate, five were walked and a pair of base hits, combined with aggressive baserunning made it 6-0 after three.

The Knights tacked on an additional run in the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth to push it to the final margin.
