Women's Soccer Season Comes to a Close in ASUN Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University women's soccer team ended their 2021 campaign on Saturday afternoon in Fort Myers during the ASUN conference tournament, with a 2-1 loss to Florida Gulf Coast University.

FGCU (7-2-2, 4-2-0) took control of the game early, with a goal scored by Alyssa Abbondandolo on a penalty kick. However, the lead did not last long as Jacksonville (1-10-1, 1-4-1) tied the game at 26:53 with a goal from Gabby Holtrop, assisted by Emma Wood

In the second half, the Eagles scored at 69:24 to take the lead. Despite a tough effort by the Dolphins, the Eagles were able to hold on to secure the victory.

Although Jacksonville walked away with a loss, a standout for the dolphins was goalkeeper Courtney Green. Green shined on defense by accumulating 13 saves.

The loss in the ASUN Championship tournament confirms that Jacksonville's season has come to an end. The Dolphin's conference win against Stetson this year is the first under head coach John Constable. Constable joined the program March 11, 2020.
