INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Jacksonville women's lacrosse (11-1, 3-0 ASUN) found out its opponent for the first round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday evening. The Dolphins will face the Vanderbilt Commodores (12-6, 7-3 ACC) in Gainesville, Fla. on May 14 at 6:30 p.m. EST on ESPN3.
"I am excited because we have worked so hard all year to get to this night," head coach Mindy McCord said. "It is a great matchup and I am really proud of the girls for working so hard to get us here."
JU won the ASUN Conference tournament for the seventh time in program history on Saturday, defeating Liberty 13-8, and will be making its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance.
The last meeting between the two teams occurred in April of 2015, where the Dolphins held on to defeat the Commodores, 11-10. Overall, the programs have faced each other four times, with the Dolphins winning the last two contests.
