River City Rumble Comes Down to Final Minute as JU Takes the W

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Dolphins (9-5) traveled just twenty minutes to UNF (7-9) to take on the Ospreys in the River City Rumble. Right now, JU has control of Duval County after a win of 52-50.

The first half was not what either team would have hoped for as JU shot just 33% from the field while going 0-10 from three-point range. On UNF's side, they shot only 24% from the field and 3-11 from three. Each team found themselves with turnover trouble as well with a total of eighteen turnovers in just the first half. This would lead to a close first twenty minutes as UNF led 22-23 when that buzzer sounded.

The Ospreys continued to lead throughout the majority of the second half as well, JU led briefly by one point in the third but could not maintain it for an extended period. Neither team particularly shined offensively with both teams shooting under 35% from the field while continuing to add to their turnover woes. However, the River City Rumble finalized in fashion and lived to its name as the game never came out of reach for either squad. It came down to the very last second after Taylor Hawks drew a foul in the final ten seconds.

Games such as this require a full team effort and that is what the Dolphins had. No single player out-shined another, and Coach Haney saw that the whole way. "We have a great group of young women who are dedicated to our standards and our mission." In a game that was thought to be won by the Ospreys, JU found a way to use that dedication to pull out a victory.

JU now travels for the next matchup against Liberty on Wednesday, January 19th at 7PM.
