Charlotte, N.C. – Behind Felipe Mendonca's hat trick, the Queens Royals were able to defeat the Jacksonville University men's soccer program, 3-0, Saturday night.
Jacksonville (3-6-3, 0-3-2) nearly got on the board early in the contest, as Olivier Correra's shot in the 13
th minute would be stopped by the Royals.
Just a few moments later in the 18
th minute, Mendonca would score the first of his three tallies. Following a foul by the Dolphins in the box, Mendonca lined up the penalty kick, scoring in the top right corner.
Three minutes later in the 21
st minute, Mendonca's shot attempt would hit the crossbar, however he would follow his shot, finding the back of the net with a header, giving the Royals a 2-0 advantage.
In the 33
rd minute, Mendonca would use his right foot to score in the top right corner, just beyond the reach of the Dolphin goalkeeper.
The host Royals would maintain their lead, entering the break leading by three.
In the second half, neither team would produce a shot on goal, and Queens would secure the conference victory, 3-0.
The Dolphins return next Saturday to Southern Oak Stadium for Senior night, as JU welcomes the Stetson Hatters.
