Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville men's soccer program (3-8-4, 0-5-3) concluded the regular-season Tuesday evening, falling to rival North Florida 1-0, at Hodges Stadium on the campus of UNF.
In the newest installment of the River City Rumble, the first half featured a defensive battle for both programs. With a combined two shots on goal in the first half, the score would be scoreless going into the halftime break.
Coming out of the half, the Ospreys would strike fast. Just 43 seconds into the second half, Luto Tom's pass would slip past the Dolphin back line, as Bryson Smith was there to finish the play, giving the host Ospreys a one-goal lead.
The defensive battle would continue in the second half, as both teams struggled for success in their respective offensive halves of the field.
In the end, Smith's goal would be the deciding factor in this year's battle for the Dennis Viollet Cup, as the Ospreys would hold on to win, 1-0.
