Volleyball Drops Contest to North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FLA.- Jacksonville University volleyball program battled in four sets against North Florida Sunday evening in UNF Arena resulting in a loss.  

SET ONE 

Both programs traded points early in set one. The Dolphins led by one 9-8 with a kill from Julia de Sa. A block from Haley Hart and Rebecca Rocassin put the Dolphins up by two 11-9. Back-to-back blocks from Lyric Love and Jenna McNamara forced the Ospreys to call a timeout 15-11. Jenna McNamara's kill extended the lead 16-13. Julia de Sa and Haley Hart both slammed one down in UNF Arena helping the Dolphins continue the momentum 19-16. A shift of momentum for the Ospreys as they climbed back late in set one. The Ospreys took set one 27-25.  

SET TWO 

Back and forth affair in set two but North Florida led by three 9-6 forcing Jacksonville to call a timeout. The Ospreys carried their momentum over from set one extending the lead 12-6. North Florida made no mistakes forcing Jacksonville to call their second timeout of the set 14-6. The Dolphins started to find a rhythm mid game back-to-back kills from Hart and de Sa, forced the Ospreys to take a timeout. Jenna Mcnamara had back-to-back kills to keep the Dolphins within range 16-20. North Florida kept their foot on the gas taking set two 25-19.  

SET THREE 

The Dolphins fought early in set three extending the lead 8-5. A kill from Love sparked some energy for Jacksonville 9-7. Hart took control and added to the kill column for the Dolphins 12-8. A service ace from Gyrani Rogers extended the Dolphins lead 15-9. Jacksonville leading the entire set forced the Ospreys to take a timeout 18-10. The Dolphins took advantage of North Florida mistakes. Jacksonville capitalized on the lead 22-14. A block from Lyric Love closed the third set 25-15.  

SET FOUR  

The Dolphins went on a 3-0 run to extend the lead to 6-3. North Florida fought to tie the set 10-10. The Ospreys found their rhythm and went on a roll extending the lead by four 15-11. Back-to-back aces from Rebecca Rocassin put Dolphins within one 15-16. The Ospreys kept the momentum late in the match 21-17. The Ospreys clinched the four and final set 25-18.  

Jenna McNamara ended the night with 15 kills, Hart adding 15 kills. Rebecca Rocassin with 42 assists. Gyrani Rogers and Jenna McNamara both with 13 digs.  

The Dolphins are back in Swisher Friday against FGCU for Senior night.
