JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Jacksonville Women's Basketball (15-11) fell to rival University of North Florida (12-15) on Thursday night by a score of 72-54, in what was the team's final regular season game at home.
The Dolphins got out to a slow start and never fully recovered shooting just 27.8% in the first quarter to the Ospreys' 56.3% which allowed UNF to jump out to an 11-point lead after one.
The theme of poor shooting would continue for the Phins in quarters two and three where they would be outscored 39-26. While JU managed to have less turnovers and more rebounds in the two quarters, it was still not enough as they entered the fourth quarter down by 14.
The Ospreys would then go on to stretch the lead to 26 points before cooling down and allowing the Dolphins to go on a small 10-2 run to end the game, but the lead was never jeopardized and UNF walked out with the victory.
DeShari Graham performed well in the loss managing to record a stat line of 10 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Asiah Jones also battled well down low grabbing nine rebounds on the night.
The Dolphins will look to bounce back and finish out their regular season strong on Saturday Feb. 26
th when they head down to Fort Myers to take on #24 ranked Florida Gulf Coast (25-2). They will then quickly shift their focus to the ASUN Conference Tournament where they will likely be the fourth seed out of the east division.
