Men's Golf Closes Strong in South Florida

PLACIDA, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's golf shot its best round on the final day of the Coral Creek Club Invitational, climbing several spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday.
 
The Dolphins finished 12th, with Alexandre Vandermoten and Filip Raza ending the event both tied for 28th.
 
Raza and Josef Hacker posted the low rounds of the day for JU, both carding 69s. Raza bounced back from a bogey on his first hole to shoot five birdies over his next nine holes. After a stretch of six consecutive pars, he finished with a final birdie of the day on his 18th hole. Hacker was Jacksonville's biggest climber on the final day, rising 20 spots in the standings to finish T33. He got hot early, making four birdies on his front-nine, before steadying in to a roll of five straight pars. He alternated birdies and bogeys on his last five holes to close out 2-under.
 
Vandermoten closed out his steady week with his best round as well, making consecutive birdies to start the day before a rough patch on holes five and six. From there he stabilized, making par or better on his last 12 holes of the day.
 
Arkesh Bhatia made three birdies and nine pars in his final round, and Joseph Sullivan improved by 10 spots on the leaderboard with a final round 70, making 14 pars in a row and adding a birdie and an eagle on his 18th hole.
 
Jack Neill had 11 pars and a birdie in his final round.
 
Jacksonville was tied for fourth in the field in Par-3 scoring, with Vandermoten leading the way for the Dolphins, shooting 1-under on such holes. JU had 167 pars, 36 birdies and an eagle on the week.
 
Bhatia and Raza both shot 5-under on Par-5s in the event, which was tied for the third-lowest score in the field.
 
Jacksonville is back on the course at the end of the month, competing in the John Hayt Intercollegiate at Sawgrass Country Club March 27-28.
