JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Dolphins (12-23) found themselves back in the win column this Friday evening with a 6-1 victory over Stetson (19-23).
JU had come into the game struggling in their last nine but were able to take control of it early today and set their standard for the entire seven. Skylar Whitty began the first three innings with no hits allowed as the Dolphins' offense came to bat in the bottom half of the third where everybody got involved in the gameplan.
Madison Bratek led off the inning with a single and stolen base to get into scoring position for Madison Reynolds' at-bat. Reynolds reached base safely on a passed ball while Bratek moved to the third. Two of the three Madisons in the lineup made quick work with their speed as Madison Reynolds forced an errant on her stolen base to bring home Madison Bratek for the first run of the inning.
Joely Leguizamon advanced Reynolds on a sacrifice bunt, followed by Victoria Rodebaugh reaching base safely on a walk. Allison Bratek then bunted for a single to drive in Reynolds before Kari Holzrichter approached the plate. Holzrichter singled and drove in both Rodebaugh and Bratek to put the run total at four for JU.
As Skylar Whitty continued, she gave up just four hits and one run over seven innings while JU drove in two more, one in the fifth and one in the sixth. The fifth run came off the bat of Holzrichter again while the sixth, a Madison Bratek first career homerun to dead center field, sending it to a 6-1 ballgame and an ASUN conference win.

On the win
"It felt good to get back in the win column. We were able to create some havoc with the short game and baserunning early. Kari had a big hit that gave us some breathing room. Skylar was able to keep them off balance all night and we played some solid defense behind her."
They now set their sights on a doubleheader tomorrow against Stetson with the first pitch arriving at 2:00PM.
