JACKSONVILLE, FL – Sarah Elms claimed the Jacksonville record for career goals scored in Monday afternoon's 25-0 shutout victory over Delaware State.
Following an eight to nothing run in the opening ten minutes of the game,
Grace Hobson would dish a pass over the net to Elms who fired the ball home effectively passing former 'Phin
Danielle Della Rocca for the school career goals record with 187.
Elms wasn't finished either and would go on to add two more goals and two assists for a total of five points on the day.
The rest of the match played out similarly to the first ten minutes as Jacksonville would control the ball for a majority of the game while also forcing DSU to turn the ball over 29 times. With that possession, Jacksonville received plenty of scoring opportunities as they took 56 shots versus Delaware State's three.
Following 60 minutes the score would read a lopsided 25-0 with the Dolphins claiming their seventh win in a row and fourth in ASUN conference play.
Leading the way offensively were Elms,
Grace Hobson and
Jenny Kinsey who all combined for an impressive 15 points in the match (7G-8A).
Defensively, the Dolphins were relentless in their 12-man ride with both Kinsey and
Mackenzie Boyle causing six combined turnovers in transition.
Madeline Cloyd also had a solid day on the defensive end causing two turnovers while also scooping up three ground balls and three draw controls.
In net, both
Paige Pagano and
Addy Tysdal made appearances with both keepers combining for a total of two saves and a shutout.
