4/25/2022 5:21:00 PM

ATHENS, Ga. – Jacksonville University men's golf shaved 25 strokes off of its score in round two to move up to fifth overall on Monday at the ASUN Men's Golf Championship.

Filip Raza entered the lineup and shot a 65, the low-round of the day, to help the Dolphins climb three spots on the leaderboard.

The All-ASUN Freshman Team selection started his day with a birdie on one, but mixed in a bogey and a double over his next five holes, before closing the front nine with an eagle, par and birdie, which set the tone for his incredible back-nine. He made a second straight birdie to open the back, sank a par on 11, before consecutive birdies on 12 and 13 and again on 15 and 16 before closing the round with two more pars.

His score is tied for the fourth-lowest in the history of the ASUN Championship.

Fellow freshman Jack Neill matched the lowest round of his career on Monday, firing a 3-under 68. He made birdies on his second, fourth and sixth holes of the day, and added another on hole 12, shooting over-par on only one hole the entire round.

Joseph Sullivan was two strokes better in round two, shooting even-par and moving into the top-10 overall, sitting T9 with one round to play. He struggled a bit early, making three straight bogeys on holes 2-4, before sinking three straight birdies on holes 6-8. On his back-nine, he made two more birdies, and made five of his eight pars for the day. He leads the team with eight birdies overall

Alexandre Vandermoten made a birdie on his first hole, his lone red number of the round. Outside of two bogeys to close out the front nine, he was a mark of consistency, making six straight pars on the front nine and par on all nine of his holes on the back. With his 15 pars today, he now has a tournament-best 28 through two rounds.

Josef Hacker had three birdies to go with nine pars on the day.

The team's 276 was the best score of the day by four strokes, and the Dolphins are four shots back of second place heading into the final round. It was also the best score for a JU team in its history at a conference championship event and T11 all-time in program history. It is tied for the fourth-lowest 18-hole team score in ASUN Championship history and tied for third-lowest second round score in the event's record book.

JU is second-best in the field on Par-5s, shooting 11-under through the first two days and have made 107 pars, 28 birdies and an eagle, ranking fourth and first in the latter two categories, respectively.

The final round tees off tomorrow morning, with JU going off hole one starting at 8:00 a.m.
