JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – In the Dolphins' final home game of the regular season, they would fall to FGCU 6-3.
JU celebrated Senior Day before today's game, presenting Caroline Watson with a framed jersey and flowers, sharing a special moment at the pitching circle with her family and team. JU also celebrated FGCU's eight seniors with a flower for each, sharing love within the Softball community.
However, the Eagles would become immediate enemies once again as they quickly exploded in the third inning for five runs that included a three-run homer as Skylar Whitty entered in relief of Shelby Harpe.
For the final four innings, the Eagles scored just one more run to go up 6-0 until the sixth inning. The Dolphins were able to scrape two runs together in the bottom half of the inning off a solo home run by Joely Leguizamon and a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded for Madison Bratek. JU would get one more across the plate in the bottom of the seventh to finalize the score at 6-3.
The Dolphins have their last series of the regular season as they travel to Kennesaw, Georgia to face Kennesaw State in a series that will determine who will make the play-in game for the ASUN Championship tournament.
