JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – It was announced on Monday night that seven members of Jacksonville Men's Rowing were selected to the IRCA Scholar-Athlete list for their excellence both on the water and in the classroom in 2022.
To be made eligible for the selection, each rower needed to be in their second year of eligibility or greater, they must have competed in one of their team's top three boats or at the 2022 IRA Championship, and also each athlete had to carry at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA through the semester.
The seven individual Phins who met these requirements and were then named as IRCA Scholar-Athletes are
John Anthony,
W. Henry Camillo,
Jim Kimrey,
Jack McCarthy,
Liam McGuinness,
EJ Sowash, and
Campbell Veld.
These 'Phins join 518 other rowers and coxswains in claiming the selection, and for
John Anthony and W. Camillo the selection marks their second time in a row winning an IRCA Scholar-Athlete award after being selected to last season's list.
The Dolphins now continue their offseason after a solid year which was highlighted by a victory in the JV8+ Final at the 2022 SIRA Championships, and the team's highest finish ever in the Varsity 4+ event at the 2022 IRA National Championships.
