Dolphins Fall To Queens

CHARLOTTE, NC – Dolphins fall to Queens Saturday night in Queens Sports Complex

HOW IT HAPPENED

The upset of a match in Charlotte on Saturday night ultimately culminated in four second-half goals by the less-favored ASUN contender, Queens, to conclude the battle with a 5-1 score. Jacksonville Forward Olivier Correa managed to find the net for the Dolphins late in the second half through a hard-earned penalty kick. Queens had an early start to the night, as QC center back Oskar Wolf opened the match with a quick top-right goal, assisted by Samuel Idinge, in the 3rd minute. Once the first goal was scored, Queens immediately launched three more shots on goal. However, the young keeper Preston Harold, making just his second appearance of the season, managed to save three consecutive, dangerous shots in Queens' attempt to widen their lead.

The Dolphins mounted an offensive response, challenging the Royal backline. Shortly after the QC goal, Dolphins' Trey Demps fired a right-footed shot towards the bottom right corner, testing the Royal keeper. Not long after, the Royal defense faced a surging Mason Duval, who ripped a shot to the top left of the net. Despite these convincing attempts, the Royal keeper maintained QC's 1-0 lead, and the Dolphins couldn't quite find the back of the net before the end of the first half. As the second half began, Queens showed no signs of letting up. Similar to the first half, the Royal offense continued to apply early pressure on the JU defense, starting with a goal by Michel Feldman. The Royal offense sustained their momentum throughout the match.

WHAT THEY SAID

"Congrats to Queens," said Head Coach Ali SImmons. "Their season was on the line, and they played accordingly. For the first time this season we did not show up and we have to regroup very quickly with two games in the next seven days."
