JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Dolphins bring home big win at Southern Oak Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Jacksonville held their undefeated record at Southern Oak as they defeated Thomas University. To open the second, Olivier Correa won the ball back in the midfield and started a counterattack with Carson Wood on the assist to gain a second half lead 2-1 over the nighthawks. The first half saw a streaking Wood assisted by Correa to start the scoring for the Dolphins in just the 5th minute of the match. Thomas opened the scoring on the night, Nighthawks Findlay Cook found the net in the 3rd minute. Which eventually led to JU controlling the remainder of the game.Â
The first half continued with both teams creating scoring opportunities, including shots by Mason Duval, Michael Mancuso, Wood, and Correa for Jacksonville, and from Alex Ruane for Thomas University. In the second, both universities battled hard as the match intensified towards the final minutes. Thomas fought hard to see themselves back into the match, but the Dolphin defense was too much for the Hawks scoring lineup to bear. The Dolphins held on to their lead with determination and strong defensive play. JU held Thomas to only two shots in the second half after Correa built an early lead. Offensively, the Dolphins did not let up on the Hawks as they put up eight shots after already having a promising 2-1 lead. Five of those shots came from different Dolphin players all of which were shots on goal. As the game developed JU saw more chances to stretch the lead. Despite their efforts, the score remained 2-1 in favor of Jacksonville.Â
