JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Dolphins use two highlight level goals to claim first Atlantic-Sun victory of the year over Central Arkansas.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Jacksonville Men's Soccer team used two highlight-caliber goals to claim their first win in conference play in the 2023 season. Olivier Correa scored a picture-perfect goal in the 46th minute using a right-footed finish that found the top right corner, and Mason Duval responded 15 minutes later, ripping a left-footed finish that could not have been more perfect, finding the top left corner. A flying Carson Wood opened the scoring with the goal in the 15th minute of the first half, sneaking in a low right corner. It was a high-energy matchup throughout the night as Central Arkansas battled back, but the Dolphins' defense, anchored by keeper Preston Harold, proved to be enough as the Dolphins escaped with a 3-2 win.
The Dolphins controlled most of the first half in terms of possession. However, in the second half, UCA Defender Deon Travis scored off of a rebounded free kick after Harold made the initial save. Following the Bears' first goal, forward Pietro Fontana found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 63rd minute. The game continued with back-and-forth action, with both teams vying for possession. Central Arkansas earned a few corners and free kicks but couldn't break through Jacksonville's defense.
