JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The Jacksonville men's rowing team hits the water for the first time this racing season tomorrow at the inaugural Head of the Arlington, a regatta hosted by Jacksonville University.
"It's time for the team to represent all of the hard work they have done this fall," said head coach
Preston Weinard. "I'm looking forward to seeing some great racing out there on our home water. I'm very proud of this team, how they handled the ups and downs of the semester, and how they continue to show up and step up for each other. This race is another step towards the winter break and onwards to spring!"
A season ago, Jacksonville sent a Varsity Four boat to the IRA National Championships and put together its best finish in program history with a top 10 finish. Of those four, plus the coxswain
Hanna Rhatigan, Jacksonville returns four and looks to build off of last year's momentum.
The Dolphins will see four boats competing in their home regatta, with the 1v8 and 2v8 kicking things off at 11:15 am. The 1v4 and 2v4 follow suit with a race that begins at 11:22 am.
Â
In the afternoon, the top three and bottom three from the morning will be put in pools for final standings at the regatta. The top three in the 1v8 will compete at 1:30, while the bottom three launch at 1:35. The Varsity 4+'s then launch at 1:40.
